About Vitalac Corporation

Originally, Vitalac only produced feed for pigs. The factory in Carnoët, located in central Brittany, has evolved over the last decade and now manufactures feeds, minerals, premixes and nutritional products for pigs, cattle and poultry. The company’s strategy is increasingly focused on farmers engaged in on-farm feed production looking for practical, technically sophisticated and cost-effective solutions. Vitalac draws on the skills of its 80 employees to design, manufacture and distribute products adapted to the context and strategy of each individual farm. 1989: Vitalac founded by Gilbert Le Calvez, after purchasing the Argoat Aliment factory based in the town of Carnoët (Côtes-d’Armor, Brittany). At the time, the company specialized in the design and manufacture of starter feeds for pigs. 2000: Takeover of CCA Nutrition and its site at Pont-l’Abbé-d’Arnoult (Charente-Maritime), specialising in the manufacture of additive premixes for animal nutrition: acidifiers for monogastrics and glucose precursors for ruminants.
2006: Acquisition of Cedem in Quintin (Côtes-d’Armor, Brittany), a manufacturer of mineral feed and premixes for pigs, cattle and poultry. 2009: Expansion of the Carnoët factory’s production capacity for the manufacture of premixes and mineral supplements.
2014: Construction of a new production, packaging and storage line in the Carnoët factory. Today, Vitalac boasts a production output of 50,000 t and turnover of 40 million euros, with a target of 75,000 t in 2015. A Breton company with international reach Anchored in the heart of Brittany, one of Europe’s most important livestock regions, Vitalac quickly developed its export activities to destinations including Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company has commercial offices in Vietnam, China, Algeria and Abidjan for West Africa. Its “made in Carnoët” products are now sold in over 50 countries around the world, and the company therefore has access to wide intelligence enabling it to stay at the forefront of innovations in animal production. To meet the dynamic needs of its different French and export markets, Vitalac has put together a technical team of the very highest standard, made up of nutritionists, veterinarians, zootechnicians and biochemists, all involved in applied research in the field. A modern and versatile industrial tool Vitalac has two production sites, in Carnoët (Côtes d’Armor, Brittany) and Pont-l’Abbé-d’Arnoult (Charente-Maritime), which manufacture complete feeds, premixes, concentrates and minerals, utritional specialities, and solid and liquid additives for ruminant, pig and poultry nutrition. Their industrial design ensures responsiveness and flexibility, with custom, personalised manufacturing, in small or large batches, of everything from complete feeds to 0.1% premixes , distributed in bulk or packaged in bag or big-bag format. Product quality and customer satisfaction Doing everything possible to manage risk and guarantee product quality, and ensuring customer satisfaction: this is the aim of all 80 Vitalac employees, each at their own
level, from order through to manufacture and delivery, believing as we do that quality is everyone’s business. The quality department performs daily analytical controls on the raw materials used in our products and the manufacturing process for finished products, and ensures their complete traceability, all under a continuous improvement approach. The company adheres to over a dozen quality reference guides (Oqualim Guide to Good Practice in Feed Production, Bio Ecocert certification, FAMI QS, etc.), all entailing
